Annie Keeler's Noah Alignment

Danbury Physician Annie Keeler Booked Judgment for a December 1901 Planet Lineup. Christmas Came Anyway

Letter to the Danbury News: Capricornus as in the days of Noah, Dec. 9–26. New Milford mistook a leftover skyrocket for the omen.

What was said

“It will complete the Planetary Cycle as it was in the days of Noah. It will fulfill the great prophecy as spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ… "the hour of His Judgement, is at hand."”

— Annie Keeler Bailey (Danbury, Conn. physician; later Annie Keeler) · said Nov 1901 · due December 9–26, 1901

December 1901 brought no Judgment Day. A New Milford skyrocket briefly fooled the superstitious; Keeler later spoke of a thousand-year postponement.

The Story

Dr. Annie Keeler Bailey of Danbury practiced medicine by day and read the western sky at six.

In November 1901 she wrote the Danbury News that Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars were lining up toward Capricornus — the same arrangement, she said, as in the days of Noah. From December 9 to 26 the sun and planets would stand in a line with Earth alone on the other side. The hour of Judgment was at hand.

Christmas came. So did New Year's. A leftover Fourth of July bomb in New Milford briefly convinced locals that the omen had arrived. Keeler later allowed that the earth's final disappearance might wait another thousand years.
