Archer's Kingdom Around 1700
Fifth Monarchist Archer Put Christ's Coming Around 1700. The Century Turned Without a Throne
Personall Reigne (1642): Daniel's 1,335 days as years from Julian the Apostate. Likely about the year of our Lord 1700.
What was said
“It is likely, that Christs comming from heaven, and raising the dead and beginning his Kingdom, and the thousand yeeres will be about the yeere of our Lord 1700.”
— Henry Archer (also known as John Archer; Fifth Monarchist; The Personall Reigne of Christ Upon Earth) · said 1642 · due about 1700
1700 opened without Christ's visible kingdom. Archer's 1642 timetable joined other Fifth Monarchy calendars that the century quietly outlived.
The Story
Henry Archer — sometimes printed as John — lectured in London, pastored English exiles at Arnhem, and wrote a short book that Fifth Monarchists kept reading after he was gone.
The Personall Reigne of Christ Upon Earth (1642) turned Daniel's 1,335 days into years counted from Julian the Apostate. The arithmetic landed near 1700: Christ coming from heaven, the dead raised, the thousand years begun.
1700 arrived with a new century and the same kings. Archer's other dates — Jews converted mid-1650s, papacy gone by 1666 — had already missed. The throne he described never took a seat.
Receipts
One claim: Second Coming / kingdom ~1700. His separate 1650/1656 Jewish-conversion and 1666 papacy dates not entered. Quote from Personall Reigne as cited on Wikipedia (Chao dissertation).
