Christ Descends on the Mount of Olives on Thursday, April 11, 1901
London Preacher Michael Baxter Dated the End of the Age to the Day: Thursday, April 11, 1901
A popular Victorian prophecy writer published a day-by-day calendar ending this age at Passover 1901, with 144,000 Christians taken to heaven on March 5, 1896.
What was said
“Christ's Advent on the Earth on April 11, 1901, will be on Nisan 22”
— Rev. Michael Paget Baxter (Anglican clergyman, editor of The Christian Herald, London) · said Jun 1887 · due Thursday, April 11, 1901
March 5, 1896 and April 11, 1901 both passed without an ascension, an Antichrist emperor or a descent on the Mount of Olives.
The Story
The pamphlet, sold in a cheaper edition as 'The End of the Age in 1901', says the 2,345-year prophetic period 'must end on the last day of Passover Week, April 11, 1901'.
Its calendar runs: the Second Advent 'in the Air' on March 5, 1896, to 'translate 144,000 Christians to heaven without dying'; Louis Napoleon's heir ruling as Antichrist for 1,260 days from August 14-15, 1897; and a 'final Great Earthquake, April 9 to 11, 1901.'
The pamphlet notes the 1901 diagrams 'were added in June, 1887.' Baxter had earlier aimed at 'about or soon after 1870' in Louis Napoleon, the Destined Monarch of the World (1863). Compare bailey-days-of-noah-1901.
