God Rips the Evil Out of the World on June 9, 1994
TV Pastor, 1994: God Told Him 'On Thursday, June the Ninth, I Will Rip the Evil Out of This World'
A Los Angeles pastor said God named the day in 'the most awesome voice.' TBN promoted it. June 9 passed. The event was then said to have happened in the spiritual realm.
What was said
“on Thursday, June the ninth (1994), I will rip the evil out of this world”
— John Hinkle (pastor, Christ Church Los Angeles) · said 1993 · due Thursday, June 9, 1994
June 9, 1994 passed with the evil still in place. Hinkle did not show up for his scheduled TBN appearance that day.
The Story
Hinkle said the words were God's, heard 'in the most awesome voice.' He called it 'The most cataclysmic experience that the world has ever known since the Resurrection.'
TBN president Paul Crouch wrote in his August 1993 newsletter that the voice was 'so loud and clear that it sounded like a great bell being rung by his ear,' and told viewers: 'John has promised to be our special guest on June 9th, 1994,' unless viewers had already been raptured On June 2 Crouch hedged: 'Something may happen invisibly.'
The Christian Research Journal: 'Hinkle was a no-show on June 9th. And so was the "cataclysmic experience."' The invisible fulfilment echoes russell-1914.
Later spin
At first myself and others were very disappointed it did not take place in the way we expected. It did begin, and is continuing to take place, but it happened in the spiritual realm first.
