The fine print

As promoted on publication day (CNN, June 6, 2023): the Arctic 'could be free of sea ice roughly a decade earlier than projected'. Min told CNN the region was on the verge of becoming 'seriously ill', had reached a 'tipping point', and that 'we will be experiencing extreme events faster than predicted'. He also said: 'Without the protector, the Arctic's condition will go from bad to worse quickly.' NSIDC put the 2026 minimum extent at 4.60 million km².
