Christ Comes Between March 21, 1843 and March 21, 1844
William Miller: 'Fully Convinced' Christ Comes Between March 21, 1843 and March 21, 1844. The Year Ran Out
In January 1843 the Baptist preacher summed up his reckoning: 'sometime between March 21st, 1843, and March 21st, 1844... Christ will come.' His movement then moved to October 22.
What was said
“I am fully convinced that sometime between March 21st, 1843, and March 21st, 1844, according to Jewish mode of computation of time, Christ will come.”
— William Miller (Baptist preacher, founder of the Millerite movement) · said Jan 1843 · due Between March 21, 1843 and March 21, 1844
March 21, 1844 passed. The movement recalculated and settled on October 22, 1844, which has its own entry.
The fine print
Miller wrote the summary of his views in January 1843 (Present Truth Magazine, quoting it). He based it on the 2,300 days of Daniel 8:14, beginning in 457 B.C. The window closed on March 21, 1844.
