I Predict 2000 A.D.

Sumrall Predicted 'Absolute Fullness of Man's Operation' on Earth by 2000 A.D.

The evangelist's 1987 book put the close of the age at the millennium; Christ was then to reign from Jerusalem for a thousand years.

What was said

“I predict the absolute fullness of man's operation on planet Earth by the year 2000 A.D. Then Jesus Christ shall reign from Jerusalem for 1000 years.”

— Lester Sumrall (evangelist; I Predict 2000 A.D., 1987) · said 1987 · due By the year 2000 A.D.

2000 arrived without the absolute fullness of man's operation ending or a millennial reign beginning in Jerusalem.

The Story

Lester Sumrall titled the book so nobody could miss the appointment. I Predict 2000 A.D. put 'the absolute fullness of man's operation on planet Earth' on the calendar by the year 2000, after which Christ would reign from Jerusalem for a thousand years.

Millennial publishers had a decade of shelf space to fill. Sumrall filled his with a date.

The year 2000 came. Human operations continued. The thousand-year reign from Jerusalem did not begin on that cue.
