Armstrong's 1936 Gentile Times

Plain Truth, 1934: Times of the Gentiles End in 1936 — Then Heavenly Signs and the Day of the Lord

Herbert W. Armstrong dated the close of Gentile times to 1936 and stacked tribulation, sky signs, and divine wrath just after. 1936 brought the Berlin Olympics and the Abdication instead.

What was said

“2520 years later, or 1936 A.D., the Times of the Gentiles will have completely ENDED”

— Herbert W. Armstrong (Plain Truth / Radio Church of God) · said 1934 · due 1936

1936 did not close Gentile times with darkened sun, falling stars, or the Day of the Lord. Armstrong later moved the finish line — including toward the 1975 cluster already on file.

The Story

In the June–July 1934 Plain Truth, Herbert W. Armstrong walked readers from Nebuchadnezzar to a finish line: 2520 years later, 1936, the Times of the Gentiles completely ended.

Until then, he wrote, expect the world depression and tribulation to continue. At or quickly after 1936: sun and moon darkened, stars falling, heavens rolled back, then the Day of the Lord.

1936 managed the Berlin Olympics and the Abdication Crisis. It did not manage Armstrong's sky show. He kept printing new calendars for decades.
